An alleged racist incident in the game between Cagliari Calcio and the AC Milan (0: 1) has caused a stir in Italy. Milan Goalkeeper Mike Maignan and Defender Fikayo Tomori was apparently racist at the end of the series-a-duel of pendants from Cagliari. This said Milan coach Stefano Pioli.
Maignan had celebrated the victory after the final whistle with Tomori. “This Gamed Day of Series A was dedicated to the fight against racism, but there is still a long way to us, and we have to fight together,” Twittered Milan.
The Brazilian-Italian Cagliari striker Joao Pedro emphasized, however, he did not hear racist insults and defended the fans of the association. “This is a very sensitive matter, but I was in midfield at this time. It is not a pleasant situation, but I have been one of the fans for eight years and I defend the fans, because I did not hear anything.”
